Front Row Ventures is Canada’s first student-run venture capital initiative. This team of student investors is backing other daring students who are creating technologies that will improve the way people live and work. With a die cut sticker representing their logo and brand name, they maximize the custom shape with the awaiting chair symbolizing their philosophy–being up front and ready to contribute.

Based in Quebec, the Front Row Ventures investment team scouts Montreal universities to uncover the best tech startups founded on local campuses. Once they find their targets, they back student founders with game-changing investment and precious non-financial resources. Front Row Ventures invests at the very early, risky, and exciting stage of their venture. In doing so, they nurture Montreal’s next generation of tech leaders and bridge the gap between campuses and Montreal’s growing startup ecosystem.

For us here at StickerGiant, we know that these startup communities have potential. We partner with Startup Weekends and Weeks all around the world. What’s interesting about Front Row is that they are targeting students, who are population that’s in a unique position to challenge the status quo and solve complex issues. The four to five years of university life are an entrepreneurial sweet spot.

The team of student investors will assist future owners in every step of your entrepreneurial journey, and at an upcoming event, you can meet the team. They will be at Launchpad Drinks: Students + the Startup Ecosystem on October 3rd, a get-together by students/for students to grow the student startup community and increase awareness of opportunities in the startup ecosystem.

Here’s more about their Founders from their website

Raphaël Christian-Roy
Raphaël has always been an entrepreneur. As a teenager, he went from owning a car garage to a window-cleaning business. It’s only once he attended his first Startup Weekend that he grasped the power of tech entrepreneurship. He is pursuing a bachelor in software engineering and is developing Volume7, a digital product agency for startups. Front Row Ventures’ tech entrepreneur is actively involved in various events as coach, speaker, and participant.

Éléonore Jarry-Ferron
With a bachelor in accounting, Éléonore contemplated a career in corporate finance. Her summer studying tech entrepreneurship at Stanford made her choose a totally different path: venture capital. She joined Pléiade Capital, a VC student club, and started a master in financial accounting. Her combined efforts paid off, Brightspark Ventures poaching her from EY less than a year later. Helping out rising entrepreneurs, our VC brain is also dedicated to women in tech with Technovation Montreal.

Nicolas Synnott
Studying International Studies, Nicolas always seeks to empower communities here and abroad. Responsible for business development at La Gare last year, he discovered Montreal’s dynamic startup community and its undeniable impact on the metropolis. Front Row Ventures’ poet and community builder now dreams of helping Sub-Saharan African communities build their ecosystems as a viable solution to current failing models of development.
